Injectable Solution
Formula:
Sodium phentobarbital 6.5 g, excipients q.s. ad 100mL.
Indications:
Short action barbituric anesthetic. According to the dose, it induces sedative, hypnotic and general anesthesia effects in small species (surgical interventions up to 2 hours long). As sedative or hypnotic in major species. On overdose, it performs as euthanasic. It is also indicated for handling convulsive states caused by poisoning, puerperal eclampsia, epilepsy, among other.
Dosage y administration:
Endovenous route. In dogs and cats: 1 mL/2.5 kg of body weight as general anesthetic, equivalent to 26 mg of sodium Phentobarbital per kg of body weight. As sedative: 1.5 mL/5 kg of body weight. For other considerations and dosage for other species: see attached insert.
